It seems I forgot about this. But really, life has been so, well, life-like, in the past few months, it's no surprise. Will the writing/journaling bug come back? I don't know. My perspective on life has gotten pleasantly shallow. Married. House (soon). Family. I no longer feel the need to wax poetic over everything. Maybe it's just about getting old. Maybe it's just how I know I'm happy. I'm sure I'll be back...maybe when the nausea passes :)
In the meantime...I'm here, and here, and here.
Normalizing.
Monday, February 9, 2009
It seems like like is stating to normalize. That is to say, as normal as it is going to get for the next month and a half!
On the wedding front, there's not much left to do, and the bit that is left really isn't that big of a deal. Everyone around me is flipping out, but I can't see a reason for it. If we needed to do it tomorrow, we could. And really, at this point, what could possibly go wrong? I'm super excited about everything, but not panicked in the least.
On the work front, things for me seem to be leveling out, which is super nice. I'm hoping to get into a Project Management program at Stonybrook (so as to avoid a second phenomenal failure). Things for my better half are not so secure right now. At this point, we're not sure what is going on, but we hope to have a better idea by the end of the week. It's frustrating, and scary but I know we will get through it. In perspective, we are in a position where we can manage whatever is going to happen. The part that will be tough will be the house hunt. Fact of the matter is that we don't know anything for sure. We don't know what will happen and how it will affect our position in buying a house. So, we are just keeping it all in perspective, and making smart decisions when it comes to finances. There's not much else we can do right now.

In the Mail.

The invites are in the mail!
Oh goodness, am I excited! Here is what is done and what is left to do....
1. Photographer - We had to go with a plan B. B as in unBudgeted. That's OK. The new gal is fabulous, and does beautiful work. We need to meet with her on February 8th.
2. Limos - We decided to go with two limos, and when we called to change the order, the guy was super wonderful, and gave us an amazing price...which helps with said unbudgeted photographer.
3. Invitations - Are sent! Did I mention that?
4. Favors - We have the jars, and the recipe. This weekend we need to calculate how many pickles and how much dill and garlic we need. I was originally thinking we will need to order everything, but last stop at Meat Farms made me think otherwise...so we'll see. Oh! Also need to make labels and cut fabric squares for the tops.
5. Place Cards - We picked up some blanks, and will make labels and find some pretty stickers or something. Nana and Poppa are on team Place Cards, and I am going to send all the supplies there way for crafting fun.
7. Shawl - I am about 30% done with the shawl, and I am hoping for some serious knitting time this weekend (although, I'm not sure when...maybe during football?)
8. Table Flowers - It turns out that the venue has centerpieces as part of the package, and we have some choices from the florist. Going to go there in two weeks to pick something out. We'll also pick out my bouquet.
9. Other Flowers - The rest of the flowers (for the girls, corsages, boutonnieres and such) are being made out of ribbons. The "petals" are all done (thanks to FSIL!), they just need to be assembled.
6. Table Numbers - I really want to make some pretty table numbers, maybe from chip board or something.
7. Programs - I was going to see if I could find some fancy pre-formatted paper, but I think I am going to design my own, and find some pretty plain paper to print them on. I've been craving some MS Word frustration.
Most importantly, I need to make a schedule...time is flying by!

Stamps.
Monday, January 26, 2009
Did you know that they still sell 41 cent stamps, even though it costs a minimum of 42 cents to mail? And did you know that when you buy 60 of said 41 cent stamps, no one calls to tell you that maybe you need different stamps, because it looks like maybe you are sending out wedding invitations? And did you also know that it is unlikely that you will discover all of this no sooner than affixing the last stamp on the last envelope? No? Well, now you know.
My New Year.
Friday, January 23, 2009
I had every intention to start the new year with a new blog, new budget, new, new, new. But the powers that be seem to have thought otherwise. Work has been nothing less than all consuming, life has been no less than hectic, and all things in general have been no less than beyond me.
So, I've decided to take this Chinese Lunar New Year as my own. In my own New Year, I want to write more. Life in the coming months is going to be exciting, and challenging, and scary and new, and I feel as if it is something I really want to record. I want to see how I grown, learn and stumble through all of the "grown up" things that are ahead.
Signing off for now. Getting ready for the weekend. One that I am very much looking forward to.

Tests, trees and allergies.
Monday, December 15, 2008
So, the best way to describe it is a grand failure. Not just your run of the mill, almost passed kind of failure, but the bombed all the way kind. I failed in the sense that I got way too many questions wrong, and I failed in the sense that I really thought I was going to so well. So, being a PMP is not in the cards right now. I decided to put the whole thing on hold until the work project that I am on right now closes out. It's just too much project for my brain right now.
On Saturday, we headed out east to cut our own Christmas tree. Never done that before, but it was super fun. It was all very sweet and cute and all the things that make people gag...and I loved it all the way!

Alas, it seems that all the occupants in our apartment are allergic to the tree. I already knew that I was, and have been drugging myself since we got in the car to bring it home. Sunday morning, My Favorite woke up with all sorts of congestion, and Knuckles spent the night hacking up whatever is ticking his throat. I was planning on stocking up on Christmas decorations at the after holiday sales this year, and now it seems that we will be adding a tree to that list.
Oh. And I am now allergic to white wine. It started on Thanksgiving, and I've tested the waters a few times since with not so great results. Bummer.

Knuckles gets a Christmas Tree
Saturday, December 13, 2008
Knuckles really wanted to help with the lights. I promise that I did not try to dress him in Christmas lights...he somehow managed that one himself...and managed to sit still for a few pictures.
